When supplied in mild steel the Bedlington heart when left to the elements will rust organically, giving you the opportunity to watch it transform right before your eyes into a lovely item of rustic décor. If you would like to keep the mild steel look, then applying a clear coat of lacquer or an 'oily rag' finish will help prevent rusting.
